With the millions and millions of new videos uploaded to YouTube every year, perhaps it’s no surprising that we miss one or two.
But this clip is pure gold for Nürburgring fans! It’s the first half of the 1975 documentary Champions Forever*.
When you click play below, you should start at exactly the right spot, you want to watch from 20minutes in:
What’s remarkable is how so very little has changed. Listen to Stewart as he talks about the surface changes, the weather, and the bumps. It’s clear he doesn’t care so much about the corner names though!
Some of the quotes really made me chuckle too. Like this one from the start:
“Half the places around the Nürburgring, I think if I were to walk round them I would be horrified. I would never drive around there again. The faster you drive around the Nürburgring, the less you know. And maybe that’s the best thing to do.”
Horrifically funny, in a very dark way. Funny, because it’s true.
*(The film was also called One by One, and later edited down to another shorter version called The Quick and the Dead in 1978. Click the poster below for more info!)
