Today is the one time of the year that racing cars can officially go fast the wrong way around the Nürburgring Nordschleifen.
It’s the Rallye Köln-Ahrweiler, and one of the special stages is from Adenau to Nürburg, back to Breidscheid. We couldn’t miss it, so my boys and me took the Suzuki 4×4 on our errands this morning and managed to snap a few photos at some key locations:
The first car to tackle the closed road from Adenau to the Galgenkopf junction was this ADAC safety car.
Followed by the ‘pre-runners’. Alex in his Evo, and this LOVELY mk1 Golf with wide-arches.
Then some more classics:
And then we jumped in the 4×4 and crashed drove carefully through the forest to Eschbach:
Next were a couple more safety cars. And what’s safer than a Renault 5 Turbo rally car? Or even a Talbot?
And then the fast guys arrived, and Wipperman uphill became very interesting indeed.
The final stop was the Karussell, where my mind boggled at the thought of that ultra-fast downhill entry in a dirty car with no ABS…
Then reality caught up, and me and the boys went to the supermarket. Which was the original reason that we left the house.. #RealLife
