BTG member Herr Teflon writes to us with an absolute stonker of a deal for anybody wanting to experience the weekend of motorsports heaven that will be F1 at the Nürburgring, 2009!
"There's a recession on you know. Yeah, really! Heard it on the radio, seen it on the TV show. Doom and gloom on every page and every channel.
Well my friends, there's always good news to be found in hardened times like these. Whether it be the best price ever for that E39 M5 you've hankered after, or that 42" LCD with 50% off, quite literally, the shirt on your back is likely to cost you less."
In this video, the most unlikely of Nurburgring hire car grudge matches, we find out the relative strengths of two very different 'RS's
For the Megane R26 'Radical' (the R26.R for short) they refer to Renault Sport, the bunch of motorsport lunatics in Dieppe who turn shopping trolleys into road and rally champions. For the Porsche GT3, the RS means 'Rennsport', or racing sport, and it turns a potent car into a formidable one...

Needless to say, the Boss is holding it back on the straights, or the GT3RS would clear off. But even so, I think you'll be surprised by how well these two Nurburgring rentals push each other along...
If you asked me to name a scary car to drive in the wet, I'd probably say something like a modified GT2 on semi slicks. Then if you asked me to think of a particularly nasty circuit in the wet, I'd say 'Nordschleife'. Here we have both.
11minute plus laptime, being shown the way by a local in an X5. I'm not ashamed, it was the scariest combo I've driven since I last ventured north of the arctic circle!
Just a little video from the other week. Not only did we 'do' Spa Francorchamps in Adam's RUF CTR 'Yellowbird', but we may have even hit the evening TF session for a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Museums are for dinosaurs...
Evo Magazine are reporting that the latest incarnation of the GTR, the slightly-tweaked 2010 model, has broken its own Nordschleife record with a new 7m27.56s laptime.
The final application of lacquer was 'haphazard'
This is important news to, erm, somebody. Probably a guy at Nissan, or a forum junkie. For us mere mortals, the only news is that we've been forced to sit in the Nordschleife car park like lemons, waiting for Nissan to finish up and give us our Touristfahrt session back. Apparently Nissan were keen to show that no foul play was at hand, so the entire test session was done with reporters present.
This 'completely stock' car can be seen above wearing optional forged lightweight rims, and no doubt a set of Pagid 29's behind those calipers...
Because there was some dust on the track (ask Land Motorsport about that) Nissan will be trying to beat the time later this month. The Spec-V will also be attempting a time later this year.
Tonight's session was aborted after the sighting lap revealed rain was indeed falling from the sky. And so, at least, I got a few laps in. Cheers...
