New 4WD Focus RS still testing! UPDATED PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 April 2008
UPDATE AT BOTTOM - answers to the many questions in my INBOX!
That's right, BTG can reveal that a 4WD 2009 Ford Focus is still undergoing testing around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, despite numerous articles claiming that car will indeed be just FWD.

2009 Ford Focus at the ring - but 4WD not Front-wheel drive!

Having seen the car power oversteer out of Wehrseifen, I was convinced that the car was 4WD. A chance encounter in Touristenfahrt tonight gave me the opportunity to lie down and squint underneath... where I saw a rear diff!

A quick chat with an un-named official confirmed that the car is still undergoing rigorous testing to be made ready for production. Whether this is to be badged as an RS, or as something even fruitier and less readily available remains to be seen. But this 350bhp six-cylinder, 4WD Focus is definitely real and definitely fast!

F.A.Q.s:

  • Did I see the diff? Yes. That's what I said
  • Is it a photoshop? No, why would anyone bother to make a photoshop of a normal ST bodyshell?
  • CHEAP CIALIS! I'm at the Nurburgring, in the Eifel mountains, surrounded by rejects from the MUH company. It's as useful to me as a turbocharger is to a horse..
  • Is it really a 6 cylinder with 350bhp? I was told that this particular test-mule is powered by a Volvo straight-six. I've also heard plenty of 5 cylinders warbling their way around too. So only Ford knows which engine config is really going to be used.
  • Am I just making this up? Nope. Just relaying what I saw and what I was told.
  • I can't log in, I'm waiting for my confirmation mail! Have you checked your spam box?
  • Do you like to see hardcore XXXX action on your own PC? Occasionally, but I don't need an email link to find it, thanks.

Error, missing fireboard config file!
