In the middle of the current storm between the government and the circuit operators, it's nice to report some good news about the Nürburgring. The final half of the 2012 public opening times will be released soon, along with a new 4-day weekend for the end of summer.
Dates will be released 'soon' according to one source. "The delays in the second-half of 2012 dates will be over soon," she explained. "The biggest of many reasons for the long wait is that the Industry Pool are still negotiating their dates."
Indeed it's looking like a massive year for testing at the Nurburgring with (so far) a whopping 17 weeks of dedicated industry test time booked on the Nordschleife.
And the four-day weekend in Summer? Easter weekend is well known for being the busiest weekend of the whole year at the Nürburgring, regardless of the often poor weather. This is because of the public holidays as well as the four days of touristenfahrt that sit together in the calendar. The management, for better or worse, are looking to duplicate this busy weekend in a more seasonable month such as August or maybe September.

I'm sure all the usual silly season problems will blow over and everything will be back to normal at least from a tourists point of view.
