According to a post on the German Tourifahrer forum, it's the management's intention to lay nearly 2km of new track surface on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the next few weeks. But the Eifel weather disagrees with that!

Here's what Manfred Strack posted on the German forum earlier last week:

Wie ja seit gestern auf diversen Webcams zu sehen ist, ist mit Ausbesserungsarbeiten an der Strecke begonnen worden. Im einzelnen finden Arbeiten an folgenden Stellen statt:“

Hatzenbach 285 m
Hocheichen 460 m
Adenauer Forst 90 m
Kallenhard 249 m
Wehrseifen 205 m
Steilstrecke 197 m
Wippermann 267 m"

That's an awful lot of hot Tarmac to lay before the scheduled grand re-opening on Sunday March 10th! The machinery you can see here doesn't appear to have moved an inch in the deep snow coating the Nordschleife.

But somebody has been driving in the snow, and they look like they've been having fun too...

Well, I won't bitch about it too much, but once again I'm feeling bitter that my permission to do a snow-lap was revoked due to "safety", only for somebody else to get permission instead. Bah humbug.
