Do you enjoy BTG?

BTG is NOT a massive operation; it's just me, my camera and my computer. And a lot of help from my friends and family. Thanks!

Spy Shots & Prototypes

Spotted: 2013 V8 Audi RS6

Details

From a pure petrolhead geek point-of-view, I found it sad that BMW's M5 went from howling V10 to smaller-capacity blown V8. Now I've just spotted the 2013 Audi RS6 testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and I'm even sadder...

Yep, the V10 has gone. Replaced by a muffled V8 with a couple of hair-dryers bolted on to each exhaust. Apparently the power and torque will still be suitably awesome, with talk of 600-ish horses being packed under the hood. But the noise? Not exactly scintillating!

If you're interested in how to see some cool pre-production metal for yourself on your next visit to the 'ring, check out this five-minute video blog of how to 'spy' prototypes at the Nürburgring.

Well no. The e60 M5 had a glorious naturally aspirated V10 (supposedly "F1-like", as the single-seater were running 3.0 V10 at the time).

But this is an Audi, not a BMW

Audi RS6 had a V10 Twinturbo as well. There was a N/A version of this engine, called the S6.

Well if you do read the article, one of the V10s that Dale mentions is in fact the M5's.

That CLS AMG Shooting Break following the Audi had a nice note.
