I love cars, I love engines, and I love the Nurburgring. So this Full-HD video pleases me greatly indeed. But what's really amazing about this video is not the tidy driving or massive dildo gearchange - nope it's the swapped engines powering each car...
You're onboard with Karan and his Nissan Silvia PS13. Ahead is Theo and his white BMW E30. Both are fully-prepped trackday cars. Many moons ago I imported a Japanese PS13 and it was awesome. The SR20DET 2.0 litre turbo engine can make anything between 200 and 400bhp with absolute ease. But Karan's turbo motor is missing....
His car is actually powered by the 4-litre Lexus V8 pictured to the left! To read more about this car sign-up at the Northloop forum and read the project thread here.
And the white E30 ahead? That's not got the BMW 6-cylinder in it, oh no... it's got a Nissan SR20DET crammed inside!
The video was shot at last year's Destination Nurburgring trackday, albeit with extra grandstands causing a diversion down the T13 pitlane. No such hassles this year.
Anyway, I'm much amused, as you can probably tell. And the DOHC, aluminium Lexus V8 has a new-found respect from me. Especially as I read on an engine-swap forum that it will bolt up to an RX8 gearbox... not sure that's the best idea ever, but it's food for thought!
