Do you enjoy BTG?

BTG is NOT a massive operation; it's just me, my camera and my computer. And a lot of help from my friends and family. Thanks!

Newest Nürburgring Taxi is a Jaguar

Details

xj front

This is the Nürburgring's newest Taxi, but unfortunately it won't be taking any fares soon. I spotted this 510 horsepower beast lurking at the back of the recent Jaguar event I attended (more on that later). It's a long-wheelbase XJ luxury sedan, with the supercharged 5.0ltr V8. But instead of the normal luxurious leather first-class seating, it has four individual Recaro bucket seats fitted.

Jaguar XJ Supersport Ring Taxi

Suspension, wheels, brakes and tyres remain standard Supersport spec. And the active supersports suspension and differential will be more than up to the job of scaring the pants of people at 150mph, that's for sure.

Jaguar XJ Ring Taxi Inside

The rollcage is a one-off design by Custom Cages of the UK, and uses every inch of the Jag's longwheelbase to keep the passengers safe. Although the champagne chiller from the Ultimate appears to have been lost in the build, as well as the iPad docks. Damn.

Jaguar XJ Supersport Ring Taxi Rollcage

Unfortunately this amazing 'Ring taxi won't be available to you and me, the general public. Jaguar will only be using it on their own special events. From my own experiences of the politics behind Nürburgring's infamous Ring Taxi businesses, I'd hazard a guess that there's not much chance of any regular paying customer getting to experience a lap in this fast Jag whilever the 'ring-taxi' business is monopolised by NAG. Which is an absolute crying shame. If I can find a way of bringing this car to you, rest assured I will...
