Do you enjoy BTG?

BTG is NOT a massive operation; it's just me, my camera and my computer. And a lot of help from my friends and family. Thanks!

Nurburgring News

Destination Nürburgring sold out

Details

The runaway success story that is Destination Nürburgring continues unabated as this month's event has completely sold out. Not a single place is available to book online for either of the two days. With over 250 cars per day and many more drivers, the organisers have also started an innovative inner and outer ticket system. Early bookers will have one of the first 150 places reserved, which means they get to use the small carparks next to the ticket office and Devil's Diner. Late bookers will have an 'outer' ticket meaning that they must park outside on the gravel overflow car park. It's hoped that this will alleviate some of the crowding we're expecting around the entrance.

Of course there are other options - German rivals Trackdays.de run similarly organised trackday events geared to international customers. With English-speaking briefing (by yours truly) and any road-legal-in-principle car allowed, they're the perfect choice for people who want enjoy their cars in a better environment than touristenfahrten.

2011 Trackday dates

July 11th - Trackdays.de - €469
July 18th & 19th - Destination Nürburgring - 449GBP per day SOLD OUT
August 15th - Trackdays.de - €499

Advantages to driving the Nurburgring Nordschleife on a private trackday:

  • Drive full laps, using the entire Döttingher Höhe straight
  • Drive as many laps as you want. Entry costs are per car or per driver - not per lap.
  • No motorcycles or tourbusses to ruin your perfect lap
  • Full safety briefings for every driver - no uneducated idiots driving on the wrong side of the track or trying to 'race' you
  • Flag marshals and corner workers PLUS roaming marshals

Truly a blast, those trackdays! Just pure driving pleasure and much more fun than Tourist sessions! Absolutely worth the money!!! Will be there on most events, see you on track soon...

I was one of the lucky attendees, and it was truly a blast and was very well run. Only one complaint: they didn't enforce the inner and outer parking at all, so even with an inner pass it was impossible to find parking. And I absolutely detest people who reserve a spot while they are out on track! But the driving was a total blast - especially on the second day. Combined with a day at Spa the next day, it couldn't really have been a better trip!
